It struggles to spin heavy comforters. There is no way to select JUST spin cycle without additional rinse. It would be good if all the cycles were modifiable. The app struggles to maintain connection with GE (it doesn't just connect your phone with the washer, it also needs to contact GE) so fails to find the washer about 35% of the time- though it does eventually recover without reinstalling. There's no mention of where to put the liquid bleach. I love being notified when the washer is done, and the automatic detergent dispenser is wonderful. Even VERY full loads come out clean. The lint filter is easy to clean.

It's a front loading washer. It is much louder than my previous front loading washer. It seems to work fine so far. I have only had it for about 3 weeks right now. I like that I can get notifications when the wash cycle is done. It isn't as green as it shows online. It looks black with a green tint. Barely a green tint. I also like the detergent dispenser. I am still getting used to not pouring detergent into the drawer for most loads.

glass door broken

Worked beautifully a handful of times after being delivered on May 5th. Within 2 weeks the inside glass shattered while a cycle was going. Water leaking everywhere, glass all over my kids load of laundry. The glass tore through clothes and tiny shards were stuck to the fabric so the entire load of clothes had to be thrown out. Extremely disappointed ! New washer and new clothes now need to be purchased.

THUNDEROUS MACHINE

Well, if you were only interested in how this thing looks, I highly recommend it. If you want a washing machine that cleans clothes in efficiently then maybe. If you want the both of those requirements along with reduced operating noise, then FORGET IT!! I am on my second unit in 2 years. First one, noise level was ridiculous. You could hear the machine through out the house when running. I'm not talking about the slight whirlwind noise that others have talked about. I'm talking a high pitch squeal, along with and airplane engine noise! And let's forget the banging and shaking!! Over 5 service calls that produced "zero" results. Over 50 emails to CUSTOMER SERVICE that tried and failed. GE even replaced the first unit- and had a second unit sent out and installed by "GE". Shortly after receiving the 2nd unit, the noises again presented themselves. I contacted GE, gave them another audio/video clip, referenced the case number from the previous unit , the over 50 email correspondence, and the info on the new unit, ONLY TO RECEIVE A FORM LETTER ASKING ME TO PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION ON THE NEW UNIT. Not, we'll have someone contact you. Not we'll send a product engineer out, or anybody else mind you. So if you like sound effects with your washing machine, I highly recommend it. They're only $1200.00 CASE This thing bangs, squeals, and sounds like a cement mixer!! CASE #267264698

This washer gets such a bad moldy, mildewy smell. I wash it once a month, use the correct detergent etc. It still gets such a bad odor. I try to wipe it down after each load but seriously, should I have to do that? Washing machines are supposed to make your life easier. This one takes more time to maintain than it saves.

Extra large capacity washer has no issue handling a king sized comforter or quilt. Washes all things well. Love the auto dispenser for liquid detergent and the option to turn it off and use powdered detergent if needed.

I purchased this model 5+ years ago (at lease the same size/features) and I've had zero mechanical issues with it and absolutely love it and buying again for my new home if I don't take these with me. I do spend time throughly cleaning it when the smart dispense is empty but this chore is well worth the features in my opinion. And I love the wifi reminders. I wish they would offer more color choices.

Technician claimed it was overloaded 57 times in the past year before shutting down completely. No warning, nothing on the display. No unusual loads that my old Kenmore hadn't handled for the past 20 years. What a waste of money. Lasted barely one year. Now looking at Speedqueen washers. Again, total waste of money.

No Internet, no washy

I had no idea an Internet connection was required to run a load of laundry until my router went down overnight. I tried to run a load of laundry before I reset the router and the washer wouldn't start. Tried calling the 1-800 number provided by GE and circled through possibly the worse automated phone system I have ever encountered since the dawn of automated phone systems, at one point asking me if "ANEIP..." was a good number to call me back at, and telling me my wait time would be ZERO minutes....and then just summarily disconnecting the call 10 minutes later. They can't program phone systems, why would I expect them to program a washer? Now it won't run, tells me the door is open. THE DOOR IS LOCKED CLOSED WITH MY LAUNDRY INSIDE Why exactly do I need an IT degree to do laundry?? Why does GE need to tap into my home WiFi? If you want a machine you can load, close the door, and press start, this is not the machine for you. Why is the lowest star rating a 1, and not. 0 or negative numbers? GE responded: "We would like to clarify some information regarding the Wi-Fi and features of this model. This unit does not require Wi-Fi to use the base feature that come with it from factory." I managed to get one load to run, but it didn't rinse, came out soaking wet. The next attempt wouldn't even start. I didn't expect to need an IT degree to use it. I don't understand why GE finds it necessary to tap into my home Wi-Fi. If you're looking for years of trouble free service, close the door and press start, this isn't the machine for you.

This washer is amazing. The capacity is great: I just washed 10 days worth of clothes in one batch! The noise is low. I made an easy adjustment with household pliers to the leveling feet, and voila! no more shaking or noise. I think most people don™€™t realize what a simple adjustment that is. My washer is in my garage, and the floor isn™€™t perfectly level. This washer is easy to use. The display is simple and clear. I™€™ve only had this washer two days, and I am looking forward to using advanced features such as WiFi.

The washer was amazing for the 3 years that it worked™€¦.yes THREE! After seeing reviews on replacement parts pages I wish I would not have purchased it. Sounds like there are issues with a LOT of people after 2-3 years. Our main control board needed replacing. Once that was done it still isn™€™t working ($200 part). Sounds like our inverter board is now needing the replacement (another $160-$170). Reviews showed the exact same thing from others. Come on GE™€¦.where™€™s the recalls so customers can get these fixed without paying the cost of another washer??? At this point I will not be replacing with GE appliances. I pray GE makes this right for us

Unfortunate purchase 7/30/2025

We have had this washer for just over a year and the motherboard has gone bad twice. During the first year it was still under warranty and it took GE weeks to send a repair person. It™€™s challenging with a family of 5 to go weeks without a washer and to repeatedly have it go bad as a relatively new purchase. After this experience, I will not purchase a GE again and hope that this review helps others to make a better choice when purchasing a washer/dryer.

The capacity of this washer is HUGE!! Very nice washer. Does a great job. I like the Smart app and giving you notifications of where the cycles are during the wash. It is not as quiet as some other units, but it is not as loud as other just the same. The noise level is tolerable. I did change the door swing which was fairly straight forward, but when I went to reinstall the door lock, the locking mechanism locked up and would not let the door shut. I had to purchase a door lock due to that not really being a warranty issue. I wasn't sure if I was the culprit of making it lock up or not. The new install of the door lock was very easy once I got the new one.

This washer does a great job and we really like the auto dispense and venting features. We would have rated it five stars but we are currently having an issue fixed by a service tech under warranty, it randomly goes into cancel mode and continues to run. This has happened 3-4 times in the last six months and does not affect the washing machine's performance, just perplexing.

Venting feature is stupid and useless. Does not keep inner cylinder odor free at all. Have to leave door open all the time when not in use to keep it from the musty and moldy odors that are pervasive when this is not done. Going to have to buy a wash bar for it. Ridiculous. This is not even the model that I wanted in the first place. No more GE laundry machines for me... This thing is 2 months old.

Bad manufacturing products & service

Mother board went bad after yr & 1/2 from purchase which indicated faulty parts from the manufacturer, not a wear and tear item or miss use of the product. When we called customer service the person went on & on about how bad GE products were bad & she wouldn™€™t buy from them, even kept going on how technology these days are not meant to last. Excuse me!!! Is she telling us top of the line washer less than 2 years old are not meant to last? Then we called again, all they can do is 25% discount. They can™€™t even backup their own products. Never again purchase again from GE with such poor quality products & poor customer service.

Best unit I have ever bought. Love the capacity and performance. The cycles between the set are great which saves energy and not to mention the noise level is next to nothing. Most of the time I forget it is running until my phone reminds me. I love it!

I bought my GE front loader self venting washer a little over a year ago and it has worked great, and I have raved to everyone about how well it works™€¦BUT im currently sitting at a laundromat because of it not being in working order. We called customer service and since we were about 3 weeks past our warranty they will only pay for part of the repair, which we haven™€™t even had anyone come out and look at what is actually wrong with it yet! This is unacceptable for a brand new washer, and I™€™m super disappointed as I had saved for quite a while to get this specific washer.

I was looking for something bigger than 5.0 because a regular 5.0cf unit cannot handle large king comforters very well. I found this through a local store and decided to get this set. There are a lot of wash options. The most impressive one is the "all in one wash and dry". It works amazing for small loads, and materials like windjackets/sun shirts (nylon). Not sure how it does it but it will dry the whole load by the time you wake up and works very well. It can handle the bulky items no problem, a note about this is sometimes you have to choose "heavy soil" and make sure the auto soap dispenser is adjusted to "more" so it will put more soap in. I think its pretty light on the auto feed under the factory setting but this is a very nice feature not having to mess with soap every load. If you throw in heavy blankets that have a lot of pet hair you'll notice itll only get about 75 percent of the hair out... so i would recommend vacuuming it before putting it in OR doing the extra rinse. Overall im just very happy I dont have to spend 50$ per blanket at the drycleaners anymore.
